Obtainium Works Presents Obtainium Cup - FREE EVENT!

VALLEJO, CALIFORNIA, July 15, 2022 -- Come to historic Mare Island and downtown Vallejo on Sunday, July 31st from 11am-6pm for a fun day featuring art cars, pedal powered vehicles, and steampunk art.

Triumphantly returning this year from a THREE year hiatus (thanks pandemic!), the Obtainium Cup Contraptor’s Rally is a hand-built sculptural vehicle rally and festival on Mare Island in Vallejo, California. Inspired by the Kinetic Grand Championship in Arcata, CA, the Obtainium Cup will highlight the splendor of the historic Naval Shipyard and its waterfront.

Located on Mare Island in Vallejo, the racers will assemble at Mare Island Art Studio at 2pm and will drive along a circuit in the parking lot south of the studio through three silly challenges including: Robots, Zombies, and the Mad Hatters all designed to stymie and frustrate the competitors and entertain spectators!

This family-friendly, FREE event will include bicycles and art vehicles that are pedal powered or human powered.

There will be food, refreshments, live and DJ entertainment, and steampunk vendors at Mare Island Art Studio. You can also tour the world-famous Neverwas Haul, three story Victorian House on Wheels!

Obtainium Works is the premier art car studio in the San Francisco Bay Area and has created a number of vehicles that have been to Burning Man, Maker Faire and on a number of television shows including Jay Leno’s Garage, Battlebots, SF Oddities and Tiny House Nation.
